Edufirst.ng was initially shortlisted for the Top 100 Fastest Growing SMEs Awards before its eventual nomination as one of the winners.

The Annual Award’s, which was the 3rd anniversary in 2020 has as its theme: “SME Development as a pathway to Long Term Economical and Political Stability.”

The award was specially designed to recognize and celebrate the impact and achievements of 100 fastest growing small and medium scale companies across Nigeria who have met certain criterion.

Since the first edition held in 2018, the annual awards have served as an SME bellwether used in recognising fast growing businesses, which have been able to make significant impact in the country’s economy. At a time when the market is faced with a health pandemic, strong headwinds amidst an economy at risk of recession by the fourth quarter, investors are looking for SMEs with the vision and determination to navigate through this period.

The leadership of BusinessDay said, “After weighing the current preoccupation of businesses adjusting to the disruption brought on by the current public health situation and its economic aftershocks, the leadership of BusinessDay decided that if ever there was a time to give recognition to companies that are thriving in spite of challenges, this is it. Real business heroes shine when they come against big odds. This is why BusinessDay is wagering that winners at the 2020 edition of the TOP 100 Fastest Growing SMEs Awards will demonstrate that it is not all doom and gloom. Our journalists have covered Business and Economy in Nigeria since our founding in 2002.”

The media organisation added that, “What we have found is that visionary leadership, a motivated workforce, supportive boards, and a loyal customer base will always make the difference between winning and losing. BusinessDay is optimistic that by pollinating the cultures of excellence of this year\’s winners across their sectors, and the wider economy, Nigeria would be able to avoid the worst scenarios of a projected recession. This will happen when executives at other companies tackle their prevailing business challenges with playbooks written by our winners. Propagating their organisational practices through this awards recognition, which will be supported by BusinessDay\’s editorial assets, can mean the difference between millions in job losses, despondence in families, and loss of Nigeria\’s long-term competitive position. From the foregoing, we can all agree that this year\’s awards are about more than plaques and congratulatory press releases. There is more at stake.”

The plaque to underscore this recognition of Edufirst has since been presented to the management. In addition to winning this special award, Edufirst will be using the unique opportunity to gain brand mileage and enhance executive persona among peers by taking up the value-curated PR packages attached to it.
